Documenting Modern Kosovo

Docomomo_Kosovo national working party will be organizing a documentation workshop in major Kosovo cities during the months of August, September and October 2017. The “Documenting Modern Kosovo” workshop, which will be organized in the cities of Prishtina, Gjakova, Peja, Mitrovica, Ferizaj and Prizren, aims to document a set of buildings belonging to the Modern Movement in Kosovo.

The documentation workshop, which will use the Docomomo documentation fiche’s will serve as a base for the inventory of Modernism in Kosovo as well for the Docomomo “MoMove” Virtual Exhibition.

Docomomo is the international working party for the Documentation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the Modern Movement. The organization which was initiated in 1988 by Hubert-Jan Henket, at the School of Architecture at the Technical University in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, is the most significant organization of experts devoted to the history, preservation and reassessment of modern architecture.

At present Docomomo International includes 69 chapters and more than 3000 members throughout the world. Docomomo Kosovo which was established mid 2016, is the newest chapter of Docomomo International.

All interested should send a short email to media@prishtinaarchitectureweek.com by August the 10th stating their interest in the workshop as well as their contact information’s together with the city where they would like to participate. Apart from the documentation workshop the participants will learn more on Docomomo’s mission, its important work in the past decades and how can one contribute and become part of it.
